REACTOR PASSIVATION AND CLEANING
Immediately after the reactor is unloaded it should be cleaned internally to remove any residual catalyst or other foreign particles. The type process will dictate the type of cleaning required. Some reactors may require neutralization of internals and interior walls to neutralize acids that form from fluorides and sulfur compounds inherent with the process. If necessary a soda ash solution may be applied either by spraying or flooding the reactor. Afterwards the reactor is dried by forced air circulation.
